1933 MEMORIAL PLATE
Rare Officially Endorsed Plate Commemorating the Munich Conference of 1933 which earned Neville Chamberlain, the Prime Minister of Great Britain the title "The Great Appeaser". This colourful 21cm plate was issued with the consent and approval of Mr. Chamberlain and commemorates his meetings with Herr. Hitler, M. Daladier and Signor Mussolini. "Out of this nettle, danger, we pluck the flower safety". History has certainly shown, this plate not withstanding the irony of identifying Chamberlain as "The Peacemaker. No chips, no crazing, no cracks.
This item has been discovered in the roof cavity of an old house in Cape Town. Some of the items have not seen the light of day for over 120 years, their crisp clarity of colour and perfect gilding attest to the fact that they have almost certainly never been used.
