BRAINTECH 2221 DIGITAL PEDOMETER & CALORIE COUNTER
A must-buy for anyone who walks or runs for exercise.
You will wonder how you could survive without it...
In Japan, where the average family owns more than three pedometers, it is not uncommon to hear a goal of more than 10000 steps per day. Be aware, however, that there is no specific number of steps that will provide health benefits. Set goals based on number of steps within a certain time period. For example, consider striving for 2300 to 3600 steps in a 30-minute period. For most people, this range is consistent with the current exercise recommendation to accumulate 30 minutes of physical activity every day. This is where your pedometer comes in...
Strap it to your waist and monitor your walking, jogging and hiking performance by measuring steps taken and speed. Also has uniquely calibrated calorie counter that gives extremely accurate result for calories lost. The Braintech 2221 Series pedometers are extremely popular due to their compact sensible design and small add-ons like a special cover to prevent buttons from getting accidentally pressed while walking or running. Proven clinical accuracy. Can be used along with conventional fitness equipment such as home treadmills and exercycles. Great for sports enthusiasts, runners or just the avid stroller. |

How a Pedometer Works
The pedometer has to be maintained upright for maximal accuracy and therefore is best placed on the waist away from the pressures of your tummy. Built-in electrically conducting sphere and pinshaped electrodes convert the number of electrical contacts into the number of steps. The conducting metal sphere of only 1.2 mm dia is normally pulled to upper part of the sensor by a magnet. As your foot placed down, contact of the two electrodes at lower part of the sensor with the power is made towards you. When the conducting sphere makes contact with the two electrodes which are placed apart, an electric current flows through the conducting sphere. As your foot is lifted off ground, the conducting sphere moves to the upper position. With this repetition, the number of contacts is calculated by a micro-processor and converted into the number of steps taken. Several other features can also be obtained, such as a calorie expenditure counter: a surprisingly accurate calculation based on your body weight, the number of steps and the speed at which the steps have been taken.
Due to the sensitive nature of the apparatus, the quality and pedigree of the pedometer is very important. When you buy a pedometer, accuracy is the foremost consideration, and Braintech has been an undisputed leader in cutting-edge pedometers.
