RED PIMENTO PEPPERS
Pimento peppers are smaller and sweeter than the large bell peppers. With an aromatic flavour and distinctive red colour it is a highly desirable sweet pepper. Heart-shaped rather than lobed, they are incredibly juicy and can be munched like apples.

Pimento or pimentão is Portuguese for ‘bell pepper’. They are occasionally called ‘chili cherries’ or ‘dwarf sweet peppers’. Although they can be eaten while green they get even sweeter once they ripen and turn bright red.
The plants are strong and upright with large green foliage for good cover and grow 66cm tall. With 80 days to maturity the plants are resistant to Tobacco Mosaic Virus.

Pimento peppers grow 7 to 10cm tall and 5 to 7cm  wide and have thick walls. They can even be baked with a tiny spoonful of stuffing. They are peeled before canning but eaten fresh can be simply sliced into a salad.
Pop one into your mouth for a crunchy snack. They are delicious and tasty and have just enough piquancy to remind you that it's a pepper.

Scoville Heat Scale:  100 - 1000  (Very mild, but the heat can vary from pepper to pepper)
