The Chief of the Air Force, Lieutenant General Carlo Gagiano, was visibly thrilled when he launched the organisation’s colourful 2010 Coffee Table Book on 22 September at the Africa Aerospace and Defence in Cape Town.
In partnership with the Denel Aviation, the pictorial compilation of aircraft and members at work, clinically portrays the core business of the aeroplane organisation at the service of the country. Aviation enthusiasts and book pundits, who were present at the launch and were interviewed by the Ad Astra correspondent, described the SAAF project as a “collector’s item”.
The project team included: Col Portia More (SSO Corporate Communication), Maj James du Toit (SO2 AD ASTRA magazine, Intranet and Internet), WO1 Christo Crous (Air Photographer and Air Force Command Post), WO1 Adriaan Gerryts, Cpl Tebogo Kekana (contributing journalist), Sgt Thabang Bapela (contributing journalist), CO Solomon M. Kotane (contributing senior journalist), Cpl Maseke Maleka (Webmaster) and Ms Hanrie Greebe (assistant editor). 2010 first edition hardcover with dust jacket in very good condition. 240 pages. R60 postage in SA.
