These pictures are of the actual ammonite (diamond blade cut in half) on auction. The auction is for both pieces. It is in perfect condition with beautiful well preserved growth rings and shell markings.

Ammonites range in age from 65 to 240 million years old. The soft bodied invertebrate animal lived in the outer most gas chamber and created ever increasing sized chambers as it grew.

The name derives from Egyptian mythology and later Greek mythology as the god Ammon which was depicted as a ram. The spiral of the Ammonite is reminiscent of the ram's horns.

It will be an exceptional collector's/conversation piece.
