Biography:

Peter Sibeko was born in 1940 in Johannesburg.

Education: He studied at the Methodist Primary School in Orlando, Soweto, where his teacher encouraged him to draw.

Exhibitions: Peter's works have been exhibited in various galleries in Europe, the USA, Australia and here in South Africa. Litchi Gallery - Athens; ACFF Centre - Nottingham, England; Friends of the Earth Gallery - Melbourne 1990; Soweto Images - London 1989; Atlanta Athlope University - Exhibition in memory of Martin Luther King - USA. He has also exhibited in New York, San Francisco, the Ogelthorpe University in Atlanta and the Henry Thomas Gallery in the Carmarthen College of Art in England.

Peter runs his own Gallery, "The Soweto Art Gallery" in Johannesburg, South Africa, and has been instrumental in opening up market opportunities to other Soweto artists through his gallery.

He uses different and unusual mediums, as he paints in charcoal and watercolors. His most famous and unusual medium is a mixture of oil and mine sand found on the gold mine dumps in Johannesburg.

His main subject is predicting township life within Soweto
