Petunias can tolerate fairly harsh conditions and hot climates.  They need at least five hours of sunlight every day.  They grow very well in low humidity, moist soil.  Watering once a week should be sufficient in most regions.  Applying fertilizer monthly will help the plant grow quickly.  Petunias can be cultivated in hanging baskets.  Often referred to and grown as annuals, the majority of Petunias are technically warm climate perennials.  They flower quickly and abundantly.  If you cannot grow them year round, grow them as annuals for dazzling spring, summer and early fall colour.  Petunias need well drained soil, bright sunlight and warm temperatures for best performance.
