This is a beautifully preserved commemorative pewter sugar shovel, hand-crafted by the renowned Lowveld silversmith and pewtersmith, Z Honnemann.
The piece was commissioned to celebrate the official opening of the Komati Mill on 18 August 1994. It features the embossed logo of TSB (Transvaal Suiker Beperk), the historic South African sugar producer, at the centre of the shovel's bowl. Honnemanns work is highly regarded for its intricate detail and hand-finished quality, particularly by those familiar with his former shop in Sabie.
This item is a significant find for collectors of local South African history, Africana, or unique handmade pewter-ware.
