 Phillip Rikhotso, a Tsonga sculptor known for his distinctive artistic style and his ability to capture the essence of African culture and heritage through his sculptures. Born in Giyani, Limpopo, South Africa, Rikhotso developed a passion for art at a young age and pursued formal training in sculpture.


Rikhotso's works often depict human figures and animals, incorporating elements of traditional African aesthetics and symbolism. He is known for his skill in working with various materials, including wood, stone, and metal, using both traditional and contemporary sculpting techniques.


His sculptures reflect a deep connection to his cultural roots and often explore themes such as identity, spirituality, and the relationship between humans and nature. Rikhotso's art not only celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Africa but also seeks to communicate universal messages of human experience and resilience.


Winner of the Brett Kebble Award 2004. Exhibited at Gallery MOMO. 


Over the years, Rikhotso's sculptures have gained recognition both nationally and internationally. His works have been exhibited in galleries and art fairs across South Africa and have been collected by private collectors and institutions. Rikhotso's contribution to the South African art scene has been significant, as he continues to inspire and promote African art and culture through his captivating sculptures.
