The AirFryer uses Rapid Air technology, hot air in other words, to cook the kind of meals that would traditionally be dunked inside a deep fat fryer. Philips has made-up a frying instrument that it claims gives you that same satisfying oily taste - but without the oil.
By circulating air up to 200C around foods like chips, chicken, fish or else pastries, Philips claims to be able to brown them off nicely with up to 80 percent reduction of fat. The AirFryer looks like a large rice cooker and has a heavy tray which can be detached, filled with food and deposit back inside.
Twelve minutes later after the meal emerges hot and crisp and, according to Philips, far healthier for you. It produces a brown and crispy texture - and cuts the calories - in everything from chicken legs to scampi. The AirFryer uses a grill and a fan to blast very hot air around food at excessive speeds. This achieves what scientists call the Maillard effect, the browning and crisping process seen when food is fried, roasted, toasted or baked.
The Airfryer comes with an inspiring recipe booklet, written by a culinary expert, which contains 30 delicious easy-to-prepare recipes and is packed with tips and tricks. Airfryer's separator accessory is a handy way to fry multiple dishes at the same time and prevents the flavours of different foods mixing with each other.
