If you are hunting for a plant with deep, moody foliage, this Philodendron Black Cardinal is a stunning choice.
It trades the usual bright greens of indoor jungles for shades of dark burgundy, bronze, and deep green.
As seen in the images, new foliage emerges in a vibrant, glossy reddish-pink before darkening as it matures, offering a continuous transition of shifting colours.
A Mature, Established Specimen. This plant features large, sweeping leaves supported by a thick, established reddish trunk that is already clearly visible.
While the foliage spread is impressive, this species naturally maintains a relatively small, compact root system.
Currently housed in a 30cm pot, it offers the visual impact of a large, mature plant while remaining highly manageable for shipping and placement.
To maintain those intensely dark, moody hues, provide plenty of bright, indirect light. It will tolerate lower light, but the leaves may revert to a standard green. Keep is safe from the scorching direct sun.
Because the rootball is compact, allow the soil to dry out roughly halfway down the pot/container before giving it a deep, thorough drench. The established roots make it quite forgiving.
Cultivated and hardened off on the KZN South Coast, this mature specimen is fully acclimatized to South African conditions, ensuring it is robust and completely past the fragile nursery stage.
