In re-living pilgrimage he will call upon numerous contemporaneous accounts of travellers, from across the centuries. Simon will explore how medieval Christianity changed from being at the centre of life, and death, to the Victorian periphery and find the impetus for our consumer driven society's return to pilgrimage.
