Vintage 1938-1940 Syroco "Voortrekker Wagon Train" wood Carving Wall Plague By Vadim Ivanoff

'1938-1940 Syroco "Wagon Train" In Relief, Wood-Pulp Composite, made from a carving by Vadim Ivanoff. The Plaque stamped V. Ivanoff, lower right corner, 64cm long x 31cm wide x 4cm thick, with Syracuse Ornamental Company (Syroco) Sticker on Back: Made In U.S.A., Syroco-Wood, Syracuse, N. Y., Very Nice Vintage Wood-Pulp Relief Plaque in Excellent Condition. Syracuse Ornamental company, was founded in 1890 by Adolph Holstein, a skilled European Immigrant Woodcarver, demand for his company's intricate products caused him to developed a process to mass-producae replicas of the carvings with a Wood-Pulp composite, in the 1940's it changed its name to Syroco Inc.

Victor Ivanoff was born in Vilna,Russia in 1905 & came to live in South Africa in 1937.
