Large hard cover with jacket, 177 pages. Published by A.A. Balkema/Cape Town/ Amsterdam in 1965.
Content: The golden age of travel in the Cape was the half-century, 1750 to 1800, covered by this book. Those fifty years brought great advances in exploration of the interior regions and expansion of knowledge of the physical and biological sciences. Routes and itineraries are examined and clarified in a series of specially drawn maps. Place names are discussed and light is thrown on the rough conditions upon the frontiers.
Condition: The book is in good clean condition. The jacket is shelf rubbed and tears along the upper edge. Spine ends are chaffed and spine is faded. Jacket is now covered in a removeable plastic film.
