PLAAS is a series of colour photographs that invite the viewer to experience life on the farm from a child's perspective. These heightened colour, almost abstract, animal portraits are reminiscent of children's story books where everyday scenes are transformed into the extraordinary.

Badenhorst grew up in Port Elizabeth, studied under Obie Oberholzer at Rhodes University and moved to Cape Town in 1998. By 2001 he had firmly established himself as a leader in the photographic industry in Cape Town. The formation of his Coldroom Gallery, situated in the disused coldrooms of an old chicken abattoir, positioned him as a driving force behind quality, cutting edge photographic art.
