Material: Wool with a full inner lining and leather trim with ties and grommets.
Info: During World War II, a specific brown or khaki beret was worn by the South African Artillery (SAA) of the Union Defence Force (UDF). 
While some units continued to wear other headgear, the beret became standard issue for the UDF around 1943. 
Worn by members of the South African Artillery, often with a regimental color backing behind the cap badge.
South Africa fought with Britain and the Allied Forces by supplying troops and men for the North African and Italian Campaigns, as well as providing volunteers to fly for the R.A.F.
The Beret forms part of the Militaria Collection of Lt Col AD Irvine who served in the Union Defence Force in North Africa and Europe during WW2 and for the South African Air Force.
Condition: Very Good, the beret and trimmings are all in very good condition.
