Planet Jr. No. 300A vintage Seed Planter
The Planet Jr. No. 300A seed planter was produced during the mid-20th century by the Planet Jr Company in the USA, which has a history dating back to 1866.
It is a walk-behind push planter equipped with a seed hopper and interchangeable seed plates. These plates have holes of varying sizes, allowing users to control the flow of seeds suitable for different crop types. The planter operates by agitating seeds above the plate, ensuring a consistent drop through the selected hole size. This mechanism enables planting of a wide range of seeds, from small varieties like carrots to larger ones like beans and mealies.
Condition of the implement is as shown in the photographs, which form part of the description. Apart from the fact that this specific planter has only one seed plate, no parts seem to be missing. However, as I am no expert on this, please inspect the photographs carefully in order to confirm. The Planter is in the condition in which I obtained it, with a fair amount of rust, which seems to have immobilized some of the moving parts. No attempt has been made to restore it to working order or cosmetically, so as not to damage anything.
