FOR SMALLER SHEETS PLEASE SEE OUR BONSAI DRAINAGE MESH LISTING
Mesh is necessary to prevent soil from eroding through the drainage holes of your bonsai container. However mesh is also very useful when doing layering, where a ring of mesh can be fixed around a tree trunk, filled with suitable growing medium and roots will emerge. After a season or so one can simply loosen the mesh and complete the layering.
Plastic mesh can be reused many times.
This drainage mesh has a specific aperture (gap between the plastic strands) to allow for finer particulates and water to drain freely but retains the bonsai soil you require for healthy growth of your tree. The aperture is also not so fine as to clog quickly, preventing drainage and very likely leading to the downfall of your tree. Furthermore the mesh has a rigidity which maintains the shape, it does not sag like other mesh which is sometimes used.
This mesh has been precut to enable you to use for layering of trees. You can either use as is or cut into smaller pieces. Any offcuts can be used for drainage holes.
