The EARTHeCO 0.75kW Pool Pump and Motor, model EQ and EQUE, is a self-priming centrifugal pump built for consistent daily pool circulation in residential and light commercial pool systems. It is designed for pools up to approximately 60 000 litres and is the standard replacement or new installation choice for pool owners running 2 bag or 3 bag sand filter setups.
The pump is powered by a single phase squirrel cage induction motor rated at 0.75kW and 1HP, running on 230V at 50Hz with a current draw of 5.1A. Motor speed is 2800 RPM with a total head of 15 metres. Insulation class is F and the motor carries an IP54 ingress protection rating, making it suitable for outdoor pool environments. Bearings are DE 6203 and NDE 6202, both standard and widely available for servicing.
The pump body is blue polypropylene with a clear lid strainer pot, allowing easy visual inspection of the leaf trap basket without removing the lid. The closed vane impeller is engineered for high flow and strong pressure output, while the integrated mechanical shaft seal provides long term leak prevention without requiring regular adjustment. Internal threaded unions on the inlet and outlet allow for straightforward installation without specialist tooling.
The EARTHeCO EQ is compatible with sand filters from AQUA MAX, Premium Black, Quality, Speck, and Eartheco. It is not intended for use as a booster pump, feature pump, or above ground pool pump. It is an in-ground residential pool circulation pump and must be installed by a qualified pool technician. All electrical connections must be made by a certified electrician.
South African pool owners should note that load shedding creates electrical surge risk for pool pump motors. A surge protector installed at the DB box is strongly recommended and is required to maintain warranty validity on the electrical components within the terminal box.
The EARTHeCO pump carries a 24 month manufacturing defects warranty calculated from the date of purchase. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship on the unit itself. It does not cover travel, installation, or labour costs. Electrical components in the terminal box are not covered unless a surge protector is installed. In the event of a warranty claim the unit is sent to the manufacturer for assessment, which takes approximately 2 to 5 working days, with repair time of a further 2 to 7 working days depending on the extent of the repair and parts availability. In unusual circumstances a replacement or credit note at original purchase price may be issued within 7 working days of purchase at the discretion of the distributor. Retain your purchase receipt as proof of purchase date.
It is suited for pools up to approximately 60 000 litres when paired with a 2 bag or 3 bag sand filter. For pools larger than 60 000 litres a 1.1kW or 1.5kW pump would be more appropriate.
It is compatible with AQUA MAX, Premium Black, Quality, Speck, and Eartheco 2 bag and 3 bag sand filters. Always confirm your filter's maximum flow rate before installation to ensure the pump and filter are correctly matched.
For a 50 000 litre pool the general guideline is approximately 8 hours per day in summer and 4 hours per day in winter. Actual run time depends on your pool volume divided by the pump flow rate. A qualified pool technician can calculate the correct run time for your specific pool.
Yes. The pump must be installed by a qualified pool technician and all electrical connections must be made by a certified electrician. Failure to comply with the installation manual will void the warranty.
A surge protector is strongly recommended due to load shedding and power surges in South Africa. Electrical components within the terminal box are not covered under warranty unless a surge protector is installed at the DB box.
The pump carries a 24 month manufacturing defects warranty from the date of purchase. This covers the pump unit itself but excludes installation costs, labour, travel, and electrical terminal box components unless a surge protector is fitted.
Yes. The EARTHeCO EQ is a self-priming centrifugal pump. It draws water up from the weir without needing to be manually filled before starting. This is the standard design for in-ground residential pools in South Africa.
Yes. The pump body and components are suitable for both chlorinated and saltwater pool environments.
A minimum clearance of 150mm must be maintained behind the motor fan cowling at all times during operation. The pump housing must have adequate drainage and ventilation to prevent overheating and motor failure.
