The suction line of the skimmer is also used to clean the pool. A hose vacuum or in pool vacuum machine are often hooked up to a skimmer line to clean out small debris like sand, dirt, and some leaves. The basket includes a handle. Fits a small weir. • If the weir vacuum lid is cracked, the swimming pool pump may get air into the suction line that will cause air-bubbles at the water outlet into the pool.  This is one cause of the so-called "suction leaks".
