Canon has a new printer that’s designed for the person on the go who needs to print quality photos, or any documents without having to go back to the office. The new PIXMA iP90v Photo Printer from Canon is a thin, lightweight portable printer that can slip in your laptop bag and work wherever you are.
“As the workforce regularly increases its number of traveling and home-based occupations, Canon will continue to provide users with products that offer quality, speed and versatility wrapped into innovative designs,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager of the Consumer Imaging Group at Canon U.S.A., Inc. “In particular, our track record with mobile printers is second to none and will continue to grow with the introduction of the PIXMA iP90v Photo Printer.”
A rechargeable battery is available with the iP90v that can power the device for up to 450 pages of printing to allow printing in the field, and printing can be done without connecting to a PC using PictBridge. Canon also has an optional kit that allows printing color photos or documents via Bluetooth straight from mobile phones. Another nice feature of the new portable printer that solves a common problem is the ability to make a composite black color from the other color tanks when the black tank runs dry.
The printer can handle standard business documents, color reports and photos in 4×6, 5×7, and 8.5×11 inch borderless prints. The thin printer is really no slouch with speed, either. Printing rates are at 16 pages per minute for black and 12 ppm for color prints, but a 4×6 inch photo is going to take a minute or so, literally. It can be done in around 81 seconds.
