         Jane Franklin was a woman of unusual character and personality; She was the second wife of the British Explorer Sir John Franklin and widely known for her philanthropic work and her travels to south-eastern Australia. Her efforts to find her husband as he disappeared in the search of the Northwest Passage, along with the fact that she spend her own money to sponsor expeditions in order to find him, are praised globally. She was a big contributor to the world's knowledge of the Arctic regions.
