Waiting to join a collection are these 7 prized Portuguese historical ceramic pieces.
These 7 items all belonged to a bigger dinner service set made in Portugal by a Company called Gilman & Cta. "Gilman & Comandita" Cookware Factory in Sacavém.
The company is no longer in existence having gone bankrupt in 1994.
In 1995, November 22 it was decided at a meeting by the Municipality of Loures to construct a museum that made the history of that factory and its production of ceramics, situated on the grounds where once this had risen.
The museum is located in the centre of an urbanization born from the rubble of the Cookware Factory, and opened in June 7th of 2000. The Museum of Ceramics Sacavém was designed to preserve the ancient core of Sacavém Cookware Factory ( which made that city famous) and is centred around the oven n. # 18 where this crockery was made. The crockery on offer was part of a set which belonged to my late parents and it was a wedding gift received in 1945.
