Possible German Black Forest Cuckoo Clock (Circa 1860's)
PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION
PLEASE NOTE : I CANNOT VERIFY THAT THIS IS 100% A GERMAN BLACK FOREST CUCKOO CLOCK. ALL I CAN SAY FOR SURE THAT THIS CLOCK WAS HANDED DOWN OVER THE LAST SIX (6) GENERATIONS WHICH MAKES IT AT LEAST 150 YEARS OLD.
UNFORTUNATELY OVER TIME THE CLOCK HAS LANDED UP IN ITS PRESENT CONDITION. THESE ANTIQUE CLOCKS IN MINT CONDITION ARE VALUED AT OVER R40.000 SO EVEN IN THIS CONDITION COULD BE WORTHWHILE RESTORING.
The first black forest examples were created between circa 1740 and 1750. I have looked at many examples on google relating to black forest cuckoo clocks and judging by this ones design (I in my own capacity would say this could very well be one)
I'm judging this on visible age, faceplate, intricate design of floral wood carvings, the shape of the iron pine cones for the pendulum (these are heavy - at least 2kg each and measure approx 19cm in length) Also size and design of the mechanical mechanism.
I'm selling this as is with all the parts visible on the photos. I've taken as many as possible and I'm asking that any potential buyer please do your own homework on this to determine authenticity. Please ask questions as there might might be something I'm missing which could validate this clock as black forest.
