This auction is only for the Disston D8 panel saw in the pictures. No reserve, this is an auction and has no Buy-it-now option. Low starting price because of the missing medallion!
This 8 points per inch panel saw is in good condition (bar the missing medallion) and measures 51cm along it's teeth, therefor great for toolchest fitting. Can't comment on its rake and fleam, since I never sharpened it.
The Applewood handle is nicely aged wood with no woodworm. Once again I prefer another panel saw, so this one hasn't seen much use in my shop. No cross cut filed teeth missing but the etch is gone. You're welcome to try and revive the etch with either gun blue or something similar. Staining and slight pitting of the steel commensurate with its age (see photos) and a few dings to the wood, but this only adds to its beauty and character. No repairs seems to have been done to the handle.
The top horn was slightly damaged at some stage and its medallion has gone awol (doesn't detract from its function). The blade is quite straight, see last first pic. My picture angle was skew. Although quite sharp, the wood is pinching the plate, therefor the new owner will have to look at the set.
For collectors’ purposes the item was not “over-cleaned”, and the Buyer is welcome to perform additional cleaning, should he require that. Superficial rust needs to be removed.
Unfortunately no pick-up of items. I will combine shipments, if requested (auctions within a reasonable period), but this may cost more depending on weight.
Shipping will be R60 in South Africa. All items will be properly packed. I am not responsible for any damages by the post office that happens during transit.
