The Nobel Prize is perhaps the most prestigious award someone can achieve in their domain of expertise. In 1984 the South African Post Office depicted Nobel laureates on stamps to honour the SA winners, we have chosen the Peace winners which we have collected for you so that you can own an original stamp together with the limited edition cushions that we have printed from these stamps.
Albert Luthuli (18981967) became the first African to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1961. He was awarded for his non-violent struggle against apartheid, as the president of the African National Congress.
Desmond Tutu (1931-Present) received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984. He has worked hard for defense of human rights and uses his high profile to campaign for the oppressed.
Nelson Mandela (1918 2013) one of the most recognizable human rights symbols of the twentieth century, shared the Peace Prize with the man who had released him, President FW de Klerk, because they had agreed on a peaceful transition to majority rule.
Frederik Willem De Klerk (1936 Present) The Nobel Peace Prize 1993 was awarded jointly to Mandela and FW de Klerk for their work for the peaceful termination of the apartheid regime, and for laying the foundations for a new democratic South Africa
