Deltiology is the study and collection of postcards. Professor Randall Rhoades of Ashland, Ohio, coined a word in 1945 that became the accepted description of the study of picture postcards.  

The following are picture post card condition grades as generally accepted  as the standard for grading postcards.  

G (Good) Corners may be noticeably blunt or rounded with slight bends or creases. May be postally used or writing on the address side.
AV (Average) Creases or bends more pronounced. Maybe writing in margins on the picture side. Postmark may show through from the address side but not on the main portion of the picture. Corners are more rounded.
