The Potjie Fountain is an innovative cooking tool made in South Africa from high-quality 316 grade surgical stainless steel, ensuring durability and resistance to corrosion. Its laser-cut base provides stability and efficient heat distribution, making it dishwasher safe for easy cleaning. This versatile tool is compatible with various cookware types, including cast iron, aluminum, stainless steel, copper, enamel, and glass, and can be used over fire, gas cookers, or stovetops.

Available in two sizes, the long version is designed for round bottom cast iron pots (sizes 2 to 6), while the short version is ideal for flat bottom pots (sizes 10 to 14). The Potjie Fountain elevates the bottom layer of your potjie, preventing burning and promoting even cooking. As heat builds, it circulates hot liquids and sauces from the bottom to the top layers, which not only speeds up cooking but also ensures that flavors are evenly distributed throughout the dish.

To use the Potjie Fountain, simply place it at the bottom of your potjie after braising the meat for 5 to 10 minutes. Layer the meat around and over the fountain, adding enough liquidsuch as water, wine, beer, or stockto keep the potjie moist. Then, add your choice of veggies, potatoes, or rice before placing the potjie on the heat source. As the cooking progresses, the pressure from the hot liquid forces it up through the stem, circulating steam and flavor throughout, resulting in a deliciously cooked potjie. Enjoy your meal!
