This vintage piece features a striking oval-faceted, 0,62ct pink sapphire set in 9ct yellow gold with a frame of 12 x small single cut diamonds totalling 0,15ct. The slender 9ct yellow gold shank thickens horizontally to support the cage-like design of claws that hold the gemstones. 10mm long x 8mm wide ring head reaches 6,5 mm above the finger. Openwork beneath the 6mm long x 4mm oval cut sapphire allows for maximum light to magnify the clarity and sparkle of the gemstone. The piece weighs a good 2,15 grams and bears the 375 hallmark indicating 9ct gold, the jeweller's signature, the Birmingham Assay mark, a special limited edition hallmark, and the date mark for 1997. I have had the piece assessed by an independent jeweller, and evaluated at R17'000. A certificate to that effect will accompany the piece. A rather pretty piece of English gemstone jewellery!
