    About the Book
A landmark work in family and strategic therapy, Problem-Solving Therapy presents Jay Haleys practical and innovative approach to psychotherapy, emphasizing action and change rather than prolonged insight or analysis.
Haley outlines specific strategies for identifying and resolving human problems through behavioral and interpersonal shifts. Rejecting purely interpretive models, he situates problems within family and social contexts and provides step-by-step guidance on conducting interviews, interpreting interchanges, formulating problems, and designing interventions that promote measurable change.
Written for clinicians, teachers, and students of therapy, the book remains an enduring guide to the art of directive, solution-focused counseling and a foundational text in systemic psychotherapy.
