THE PLAYSTATION 2 SLIM SCPH-75004 (INTRODUCED IN 2005) IS A COMPACT, LIGHTWEIGHT REDESIGN OF THE ORIGINAL PS2, FEATURING A TOP-LOADING DISC TRAY, INTEGRATED ETHERNET/MODEM PORTS, AND QUIETER OPERATION. IT LACKS INTERNAL HARD DRIVE SUPPORT BUT OFFERS EXCELLENT BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY FOR PS1 GAMES AND IS FAVORED FOR ITS PORTABILITY AND 75% SMALLER VOLUME.
 
THE SONY PLAYSTATION 2 SCPH-75004 IS A SLIMLINE MODEL ORIGINALLY RELEASED IN LATE 2005. IT HAS A COMPACT, CHARCOAL BLACK DESIGN AND WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 900G AND IS ABOUT 2.8CM HIGH.
 
IT REQUIRES AN EXTERNAL AC ADAPTER (8.5V DC) WHICH IS INCLUDED.
 
This slim SCPH-75004 model uses the PVR-802W laser which is relatively cheap and easy to replace if it fails to read discs. It also runs cooler than the 2004 first-generation slims (SCPH-7000x), which were notorious for overheating and potentially damaging the laser.
 
THE SONY SCPH-10010 IS THE OFFICIAL DUALSHOCK 2 ANALOG CONTROLLER DESIGNED FOR THE PLAYSTATION 2 CONSOLE. WHILE NEARLY IDENTICAL IN LAYOUT TO THE ORIGINAL PLAYSTATION CONTROLLER, IT INTRODUCED KEY TECHNICAL IMPROVEMENTS, MOST NOTABLY PRESSURE-SENSITIVE BUTTONS.
