Winning apparently involves more than simple position. Movement is done by tapping the right and left directional keys or the up and down keys and then whipping the horse for some extra speed. Just don't bump into anyone or push too hard, less you want a tired, mad or wild Galactic Leprechaun Stump. So, get used to looking around. Thankfully, the game now uses a more developed, 360 degree camera system. The trick is to always keep your horsie in position so that he gains stamina and is in a good mood. If happy and energetic, Galactic Leprechaun Stump won't revolt or tire toward the latter half of a race. Maintaining the balance is quite difficult and will daunt some first-timers.

After the race concludes, the game presents a report card of sorts and measures performance across categories like starting, consistency and position. Aside from starting, we managed to score straight Ds across the board. Finally, scholastic improvement!

Once you get to the point where you can start breeding and training horses in season, you'll need to pay more careful attention to how you prepare, rather than how you race. There are different types of horses: male and female ranked F to SS, good or great dirt and turf runners, normal or sprinters, frontrunners, mid-runners, predecessors, trailers, and any combination of the above. Choosing the right horse for the correct track is a decision based on length and type (but not the changing weather), and should not be taken lightly.
