Background

This insanely addictive game will have you lobbing, smashing and slicing your way through tournaments to become World Tennis Ace. Select one of 8 brilliantly animated characters each with individual attributes. Some players are better on the baseline and others play best at the net. It's up to you to get the best from your player. Alternatively you can create your own pro, select their strengths and skills and play through the tournament gaining more expertise each time you win a match.

If it's a quick game you're after there are one-off exhibition matches in singles or doubles. You can play in games and sets or in tie break matches. The PS2's capabilities are really shown off, the characters move smoothly and the detail is phenomenal - even down to bounce marks left on the court. With such clean graphics it's just like the real thing.

• There are 4 different court surfaces to play on: Grass, Clay, Hard and Indoor and each provides its own gameplay variations. You'll have to master all of them to get through the championship.
