About SKATE 3:
Skate 3 is a skateboarding title in the Skate series of video games, developed by EA Black Box, published by Electronic Arts and was released on May 11, 2010. The game takes place in the fictional city of Port Carverton, which embraces skateboarding, unlike the "skateboarding is a crime" mentality that permeated the second game. Several notable skateboarding pros appear throughout the game such as Darren Navarette, Terry Kennedy, Eric Koston, Jason Lee, and several others. It is also a much more colorful and happier place than Skate 2's desaturated, grainy streets, although the skating still provides the overall feel given off by the first & second games.
Two new difficulty levels have been added along with the normal setting of classic Skate gameplay. Easy Mode allows all tricks to flip faster and higher, more attraction to ledges & rails (about a 90% pull), and pushes generate more speed. Hardcore Mode requires tricks to be performed precisely, use the "flick-it" system too slow and you will under rotate tricks, also flip-tricks are harder to do when flipping onto ledges. Grinds are also much harder as there isn't as much "magnetism" onto ledges and rails (about a 10% pull). It takes three pushes to get to full speed on Easy & Normal, while Hardcore requires five. Hardcore Mode is for a more sim-oriented gamer-base.
Skate-School is a feature at the beginning of the game when Coach Frank teaches you the basics of skateboarding such as grinding and performing ollies. You can however visit the skate school later on in the game to just skate around it. This feature is optional but is recommended to newbies of the franchise.
Skate-Park is also a feature in Skate 3 that allows gamers to build skateparks similar to the Tony Hawk games. Using this feature, players can build a variety of set-ups such as mega ramps and plazas. The new skate.Create Pack expands on this feature with 2 new areas and over 30 pieces.
EA introduced three new game modes to play online: "1-Up", "Domination", and "Own The Lot". In "1-Up", players have a given number of seconds to get a point total as a team which the other team then has to beat, or "1-Up". In "Domination", teams compete against each other to try to own as many spots that they can in a time limit. In "Own The Lot" there are six to twelve things to do (e.g. grind a ledge, flip-trick off a ramp) in a certain area that needs to be completed by your team first to win.
