Pteronia is a genus of flowering plant in the aster tribe within the sunflower family, Asteraceae. Pteronia divaricata commonly known as Geelgombos, Geelknopbos and Spalkpenbos in Afrikaans is a South African indigenous species from the Northern Cape and Western Cape Provinces. It is synonymously known as Eupatorium divaricatum. Pteronia divaricata grows into a rounded leafy shrub of up to 2 meters tall. It has ovate hairy leaves and during spring it bears discoid yellow or whitish flowers.
