This is a gorgeous less well known Puccini opera. The composer was trying to get away from "big tunes". I thought - at first - that he was getting rid of tunes altogether. It took me playing it several times, then I was completely hooked and I now love it better than all the others and I seem to learn something new about it each time I play it. - Amazon user review
