Walter Hugh James served in the 1st as well as the 2nd Imperial Light Horse, rising through the ranks from Trooper to Lieutenant.

According to the Kaplan Roll for the “Relief of Mafeking” clasp, there were only 209 QSA medals issued with the double Relief clasp.
