THIS CAVEMAN SPECIAL INCLUDES:
QUEST FOR FIRE
Groundbreaking drama from French director Jean-Jacques Annaud, set 80,000 years in the past, where a primitive tribe desperately guards their most valuable possession - fire. After an attack from a neighbouring tribe, the fire is put out. Lacking the knowledge to kindle their own flame, the tribe sets out on an epic journey across a prelapsarian wilderness to find another source of fire. The body language of the tribe was created by noted anthropologist Desmond Morris, while acclaimed writer Anthony Burgess assisted a team of linguists to create the primitive spoken language.
During the Ice Age, the fire used by a clan of cavemen is extinguished during a battle. Subsequently, three members leave in search of new embers to renew their flame. This journey proves to be more event-filled than expected, however; for example, they rescue a young cavewoman from cannibalistic savages and she leads them to her tribe, where the trio learns the secrets of fire -- and love.
THE CLAN OF THE CAVE BEAR
Set in the last few days of the Neanderthals, 'Clan of the Cave Bears' begins with the discovery of the young recently-orphaned Cro-Magnon child Ayla, who convinces the clan leaders to let her stay with them. As she grows into a beautiful young woman (Daryl Hannah) with strength and skill, Ayla becomes equally sceptical of their demeaning treatment towards the clan women and the brutal male seduction rites. She must fight for her survival, respect, and finally acceptance from the clan.
