Customer Feedback:
Most small electrics are actually designed for brushed motors and NiMh.Hence when using Brushless and LiPo you experience problems with the center of gravity. In my e-starter the original motor 400(brushed gearbox) weights 100g this motor 65g which is enough to replace it safely. Unlike the 2408-21 which is 50g and needs special weight care. Also the motor is slow (840kv)as opposed to 2408-21 (1400kv) which means you can use bigger slowfly props like the original motor. On the 2408-21 for 3s one should use no more than a 8 x 4 (which is good for faster planes) The 9x6 slowfly 3s 1300 20c from UH about 10,5amps Great BESC only negative you have to program it for 2s or 3s.
We've got a whole squadron of slow sticks with this set up at my flying field now. I can take off in about 2 feet and loop chasing it's tail endlessly. Plenty of power, doesn't ever feel like overkill though. Running a 3S 1800 pack, I easily fly for 15 minutes.
I have one with an Aeronaut 10x6 folder. VERY quiet setup! I can barely hear it while flying. I liked it so much I bought another one for my GWS Formosa. Flies like a rocket. I'm using an APC 9x7,5 Slow Fly and got unlimited vertical and over 100kph top speed. Pretty good for a 440g park foamie, huh? For this price, I see no reason to stick with the original 350 geared brush-motor in GWS foamies. This brushless AND it's ESC cost LESS than a brushed ESC would...
Nice combo and even nicer price! Makes a perfect replacement for the original E-Starter 400 motor and gearbox with a significant performance increase and longer duration flights.
A very nice upgrade for my GWS Tiger Moth 400 which originally came with a Speed400+gear. Though you do not get vertical with this setup you can still climb out at ~60 degrees, be able to start from tall grass and fly for 25-30 minutes per pack.
This is the best little combo I have ever seen! it makes my depron p-51 a rocket!! i can go vertical forever! and is good for 3d! i do recomend.
