Nero Tondo, which translates from Italian to "round black", is an heirloom Spanish radish with a matte black exterior and dense, crunchy white interior flesh. Large, round, 50-100mm. roots have a pungent, spicy flavor reminiscent of horseradish that turns mild and sweet when cooked. Nero Tondo radishes are slow to bolt in hot weather; and are also very cold tolerant. Seeds can be sown in the winter to overwinter for a spring harvest, or sow in spring for summer and autumn harvests.
