Radish Watermelon

Radish Watermelon produces round roots, that have a creamy white exterior, and a beautiful bright pink interior. The top of the ball can be a litte green in colour, if exposed to sunshine.  Its flesh is tender-crisp, succulent and firm.  Its flavour is mild, slightly peppery with almond-sweet notes.  Depending on when harvested, watermelon radishes can range in size from a golf ball to a good fist size.   Radishes can be planted in most places year round, although personally i prefer the flavour of those grown in slightly cooler weather.

This variety is also popular sliced and pickled, as it is a colourful condiment.  For those who enjoy a bit of food art, this is a must have, to grow, and enjoy.  This radish pairs well with fennel, apple, cheeses (feta), bacon, white fish, cucumbers, eggs, etc.  Once harvested store them in the fridge, for one week.
