For auction: "RAILWAY DINING CARS IN SOUTH AFRICA, History and Development" by H.L. Pivnic, First published 1985. This magnificent collectable book tells the history of the long gone era of railway dining salons in South Africa. Illustrated with B/W images, it includes letters, specifications, correspendence and anecdotes that are a wonderful glimpse in the workings of the SAR catering Department. 415 pages, the book is in a good condition, although the dust jacket has been damaged and was recovered with cellophane. An excellent, and rare addition to any railway collectors library, these books are becoming increasingly scarce as time passes, just like the dining cars that they document.
