HO scale unfinished modular model train layout
THIS LAYOUT IS IDEAL FOR THE MODELLER WHO WANTS TO FINISH A LAYOUT BUT WANTS TO SKIP MOST OF THE FRAMEWORK AND 50% OF THE SCENE SET-UP.

This is a great layout for modellers with space restrictions for a permanent set-up and also for modellers who enjoy taking out a piece of layout at a time, to work on. The layout is completely modular with straight modules measuring 1200mm x 600mm (2 modules are 1200mm x 400mm) and curves 700mmx700mm. The layout consists of 4 straight modules (2 make up a small yard, 1 is a quarry with siding, yard building, and 1 module with a bridge over a small river) and four curved modules. The total size of the layout is 3800mmx1400mm. Extra modules can easily built and added and the configuration can be changed as you grow or change with time.The track is wired in most places.
Most track has been fixed and ballasted but this layout is not complete. One curved module needs scenery detail and ballast. The yard scenery has not been completed. Yard track needs to be re-ballasted. The tracks need a clean but are still relatively unused as the layout has not been finished, so they are not rusted or damaged. Connector tracks to join modules are needed.
Track consists of : 10 x Peco large radius turnouts, 1 x Peco medium radius turnout, Hornby flex track, Hornby curves (R609 and R607). The pictures should serve as part of the description, as you can see there is joining track that needs to be added.

Total layout cost: R3838 excluding all hours for labour so far.
The layout does not have legs but is currently resting on the floor at my old office in New Doornfontein. This is a great way to get the basic foundation of a good layout by missing the first few steps and getting into the exciting stuff that is in the finishing.
