A rare Edwardian era pocket knife with solid sterling silver handles. Lovely hammered finish. Bears the hallmarks for Sheffield, 1904. In good condition.
George Gillott ran a small cutlery firm from Brightmore Street, Sheffield. His output was dwarfed by most other Sheffield cutlers. Knives by Gillott are therefore quite rare finds. This knife has blades by George Gillott and solid sterling silver scales by Britton & Gould of Hatton Garden, London. The two blades a spearpoint and a pen are both swaged and are tang stamped G. Gillott Sheffield England. The silver scales are hallmarked by the Sheffield Assay Office with the Britton, Gould & Co registered makers mark and the date letter m for 1904.
