Khaki material appears in a Fair State of preservation. Structural integrity and overall appearance appear to be in good order. Lining is present with leather sweat band. No Chin-Strap , Brass retention bales remain. Manufacturer and size markings evident. Surface areas of discoloration will be evident, brim appears mildly brittle in two small areas of exposure.

An EXCELLENT example of Second World War Era, 1940s SA Railways Khaki Pith Helmet with Pugaree Wrapping. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed Relief on obverse and reverse. All Structural elements appear present. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Khaki cloth cover is largely intact- with a few areas of Wear & tear visible. Pugaree is complete and secured to Helmet Shell. Some discoloration will be present- due to environmental exposure and general usage. NOTE : Brim / Visor region at the Helmet rear will have one or two areas that are Brittle / Softened due to age.
The Leather Sweat band and Cloth Lining are complete, with all necessary markings. Chin-strap is NO LONGER PRESENT- having expired due to age. The Brass retention bales - however, still remain.
This piece would have been utilised by members of the South African Railways & Harbours - as part of their service uniform attire during the period of World War 2.
