Rare '1947 Royal Ball Dance Card' (Johannesburg City Hall. S.A.)

 

This rare, very early, wonderful, Royal Ball 'Dance Card or Programme' with attached pencil is in excellent condition. It was from the Royal Ball, held on the '1st April, 1947' at the Johannesburg City Hall, in honour of 'Their Royal Highnesses, Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margret'. The card lists numerous dances, 'Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, Quick Step, Tango etc.', and is partially filled in, in pencil, with the names of men the lady had danced with. The music was played by the 'South African Air Force' band. The card measures 12cm x 6cm folded and 12cm x 12cm open.
