The piece is in an GOOD, USED CONDITION- Insignia / Badge Graphic Design Relief is present and detailed. Operator's Insignia remains in a Good State and has been utilised. Appropriate Signs of Wear evident due to handling. Bi-metal surface finish is intact and Badge retains all Pins w/ stoppers. All necessary parts appear to be present. Item is Second-Hand.

An EXCELLENT example of a RARE , 1980s / 1990s SAMS Special Forces Medical Operator's Bi-Metal Badge. This piece appears to be in a VF state , with detailed Graphic  Relief on  obverse. All insignia present. Minimal Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Bi-Metal finish appears complete. All retention Pins and stoppers are present. Piece remains un-numbered at rear portion. 

This piece would have been issued to a member of the South African Medical Service- who had successfully qualified as a Combat Medic as per course requirements. This Medic , would then have had to successfully complete the SA Special Forces 'Recce' course - in order to qualify as a combined Operator in the field. The 7 Medical Battalion personnel  would have operated alongside the 'Recces' during all combat related Reconnaissance missions. 

The ideal addition to any SADF/ SAMS & Special Forces  Border War Era Insignia collection or display- for the enthusiast seeking a unique period piece for their assortment.
