An EXCELLENT example of a RARE, Border War  1980s SADF,   44 Para. Brigade Pathfinder Unit / Special Forces 'Recce'  Nutria Rucksack Expansion Bag. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed fittings  remaining intact. Storage Bag is complete and Zipper closures are  present & functional. Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Nylon  Material is in good condition and complete. 

The Nutria Expansion Bag , features a discreet attachment system - that is characterized by a  aluminium  'Hook & Loop' system. This facilitates silent attachment and disassembly in field conditions. The original waterproof lining is present and the Bag, can be secured by means of a barrel-closure drawstring. Additional plastic D-rings are present for further modular attachments.

This piece would have been utilised by members of the 44 Parachute Brigade Pathfinder Unit- as well as - elements of the SA Special Forces Regiment 'Recces'  for long distance patrols and operations behind the Frontline.
