An EXCELLENT example of a RARE, 1980s British Special Air Service - Silver Metallic HALO Parachute Wing Qualification Badge. This piece appears to be in a VF + state , with detailed Relief on  obverse. All insignia present. Appropriate Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. Silver-wash finish is intact , with a minor degree of toning. All retention lugs are intact at rear portion. This variant would have been issued during the 1980s - as part of the S.A.S Dress Uniform attire to denote Qualification for the HALO ( High Altitude, Low Opening) Parachute requirement. 

The Special Air Service- formed during the early stages of World War II , by Major David Stirling became the first modern iteration of clandestine or Special Forces Units that have become widespread today. This Unit , continues to perform as the elite Operational Force of the British Army during times of Peace & Conflict.
