An EXCELLENT example of a RARE: Border War, 1980s - 32 Battalion Elite Light Infantry Camouflage Pattern Poncho w/ Hood. This piece appears to be in a VF/F state , with detailed Camouflage Design Relief on obverse and reverse. All necessary parts and fittings appear present. Appropriate Evidence of handling/ age-related wear is visible on surface. A small degree of pigment fading- may be noted due to environmental exposure. Material is in good order , with waterproof lining remaining complete. All grommets & retention press-studs appear present and functional to some degree.
This piece would have been issued and utilised by members of 32 Battalion , the elite Light Infantry Unit of the SA Defence Force. The formation would have used the item in conjunction with their Camouflage uniform attire- whilst conducting operations ( offensive & reconnaissance ) in SWA / Angola. These operations would have mostly been clandestine in nature during the Conflict.
